Timothy & Tonya Fletcher, CARC-Clinic Administrators

Hello, we are Tim & Tonya Fletcher, the clinical coordinators for CARC. Tim & I were married in 1993. We were both in undergraduate school at the time. he was attending Utah Valley State College & I was at Brigham Young University. We both were exploring options in medical careers. Tim has always, since he was a young child, wanted to be a doctor. I was looking at PA schools. We were expecting are first child when we were introduced to Dominican Republic. We met a few doctors here in Carteret County that had attended medical there and we were interested. One of the biggest hurdles was the language. The medical school there is taught completely in spanish. This was not a problem for Tim, he had been speaking spanish for about 7 years at that time. We decided we would do it. After we had moved down there and were there for about a month, I decided that I was wasting my time. I needed to be in school too. So the very next semester I signed up and went to school, learning spanish as I went along. Two more children and six years later we both graduated. We now are studying to pass licensing exams here in the U.S. so that we can go to residency. In the mean time, having a family to support, we have continued working in the medical field. Tim has been working in Urology and I have had wonderful experiences working in Pediatrics. When news came that we were expecting our fourth child, change was needed. Now we are here at CARC.! This gave us an opportunity to work more independantly and build a business of our own. It's also a wonderful concept of releiving pain, extendin and improving quality of life for many. It also offers a broad range of services for us to fine tune our skills in many areas. As we are persisting in reaching our goals of both becoming licensed Medical Doctors, we are here with our family in an enviroment that allows us to grow and continue to reach for our dreams. We are here for the duration, even after we are licensed Physicians.

Both of us graduated medical school in 2001. We earned degrees as Doctors of Medicine from Universidad Central del Este, which is a 6 year medical program and is located in the Dominican Republic. Presently we are both studying for our medical licensure.
